Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. Market Harborough's service is usually 10am at St Dionysius, then a parade to the war memorial. Lutterworth too.

Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026, and Armistice Day falls on Wednesday 11 November. In Market Harborough the district’s main service has for the last two years been held at 10am in St Dionysius Church, followed at about 10.40am by a parade along the High Street to the war memorial on The Square for the two-minute silence at 11am.

Lutterworth Town Council has already confirmed its 2026 date. The Market Harborough times below are from the last two years and will be confirmed in early November.

Market Harborough

In 2025 the Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire, the Royal British Legion and the chairman and leader of Harborough District Council attended the service of remembrance at St Dionysius Church, next to the High Street. It started at 10am, with the congregation asked to be seated by 9.50am. At about 10.40am a parade left along the High Street to the war memorial, where the Act of Remembrance and two-minute silence took place before 11am. The parade included a marching band, cadet units, Scouts, Guides, Brownies and Cubs, and a contingent of veterans. The council also hangs Union Flags above the town centre shops for the Poppy Appeal: 115 in 2024 and more than 100 in 2025. The flag on The Symington Building flies on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day and is lowered for the silence.

Lutterworth

Lutterworth Town Council runs the town’s Remembrance Sunday parade and service with the Lutterworth branch of the Royal British Legion, and its events page gives the date as Sunday 8 November 2026. (Remembrance Sunday, Lutterworth Town Council, updated 3 September 2026)

  • Road closures: Church Street and George Street are closed to through traffic from 10am to 12.30pm.
  • Who marches: veterans, cadets, the emergency services, Scout groups and, in recent years, 244 Signals Squadron. To join the parade, email events@lutterworth-tc.gov.uk.
  • Laying a wreath: register with the Royal British Legion before the day so you are added to the schedule, at linfordreg@gmail.com.
  • Order of service: the town council posts it before the event. The 2025 version is on the same page.

The 2025 timings, from the district council: a service at St Mary’s Church at 9.30am, then the parade marching off from the Wycliffe Rooms at 10.30am to the Memorial Gardens for a service of remembrance and wreath laying.

Kibworth and Broughton Astley

In 2025 the Kibworth parade started at 10.30am at Grammar School Hall, with the Kibworth Band and Kibworth Youth Band, and was followed by a service at St Wilfrid’s Church. In Broughton Astley the parade started from Thomas Estley College; the council’s notice told people to check locally for the time. (Harborough District Council, 5 November 2025)

Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November

Last year a short service was held in Market Harborough near the war memorial on the Market Square, led by the chair of the town’s Royal British Legion branch, with the two-minute silence at 11am and wreaths laid at the Memorial Gardens gate afterwards. The council warned that the silence begins and ends with a loud bang, as a maroon is fired. In Lutterworth the Royal British Legion held a short service at the war memorial gardens from 10.50am.
