A motorcyclist in his 60s died on Walcote Road, South Kilworth, on Monday afternoon. His passenger was seriously hurt. Police are asking for dashcam footage.

A motorcyclist has died after a collision on Walcote Road in South Kilworth on Monday afternoon, 5 October.

Leicestershire Police said officers were called just after 3pm to a report that a red Honda CB1000 motorcycle had left the carriageway. The rider, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle’s pillion passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The force has not named the rider and has not said what caused the collision. Its statement was issued on Tuesday.

Police appeal for dashcam footage

Officers are asking anyone who was travelling in the area and saw the motorcycle, or who has dashcam footage, to come forward.

Where it happened

Walcote Road runs north-west out of South Kilworth towards Walcote and the A4304, the main road between Lutterworth and Market Harborough. South Kilworth is about four miles east of Lutterworth and close to the Northamptonshire border.

  • If you use the road this week, it is already due to close. Leicestershire County Council published an order on 1 October, four days before the collision, closing South Kilworth Road in Walcote and Walcote Road in South Kilworth from Saturday 10 October for up to seven days of highway maintenance.
